Robert Ball

Principal

 

Robert Ball is one of Portland’s leading developers and has been a successful real estate investor, developer, manager, and owner. He brings a unique combination of development talent and experience in land planning, entitlement processing, market and feasibility analysis, design and construction, and the essential operational components of real estate investment. Robert negotiates and manages acquisitions, property analysis, development profitability forecasts, acquisition feasibility, market conditions, property due diligence, and overall project and real estate product concepts. His career has spanned over 25 years, creating large scale projects along with the formation of real estate development, sales, and management companies.

 

Robert volunteers as a reserve police officer for the Portland Police Bureau and holds the rank of Commander. He was awarded the Police Medal (for valor,) two Distinguished Service Awards from the Oregon Peace Officers Association, and many other commendations and citations. He has served on Portland’s Charter Commission, several nonprofit boards, and has been active in civic, neighborhood and community projects. He won the 1997 NW Examiner Award for Public Safety and was listed on the Business Journal’s prestigious 40 Under 40 list for outstanding leadership in business and civic affairs.

Brady Shinn

Project Manager

 

Brady Shinn serves as a project manager for the Robert Ball Companies. Brady is involved in all aspects of the development process including site selection, due diligence, project planning, and execution of the building process. He has significant experience in pre-planning, partnership management and reporting. Brady understands loan draw requests analysis, project scheduling and organization of Owner/Architect/Contractor (OAC) meetings. He uses due diligence, financial modeling, and project management skills to transform underperforming or vacant real estate into strong income-producing properties that become landmarks in the surrounding neighborhood and community. Additionally, Brady oversees the operations, lender relations, and loan administration for specific projects. Brady is a 2008 graduate of the University of Portland and was a distinguished Fulbright Scholar. He studied abroad in Europe, developing a thesis in identity politics. Brady is a soccer enthusiast and rock climber. He enjoys exploring the many amazing landscapes of the Pacific Northwest.

Alex Dobson

Project Manager

 

Alex started his career out of college as a Loan and Asset Manager for Robert Ball Companies, quickly becoming Project Manager and Property Manager. In all positions Alex has demonstrated great understanding in timely management of both portfolios and people. From handling company investments in real estate, to managing million-dollar real estate projects. Alex has become a valued component of Robert Ball Companies. Alex has significant experience working collaboratively and independently on a multitude of projects; using cost/benefit analysis, management, and communication skills. Alex works directly with loan officers, banks, building owners, building tenants, contractors, and inspectors to complete his projects and oversee his properties. A 2015 University of Oregon alumni, Alex graduated with a major in Economics and a minor in Business. He has an athletic background and played tennis at a competitive level his entire life, reaching a USTA top 5 ranking for men’s doubles in the Pacific Northwest at the age of 16. He continues his passion for sports, recently taking up golf and is one of the newest members of the Columbia Edgewater Country Club.

Kevin Litle

Licensed Property Manager

 

Kevin Litle brings extensive property management experience to the Robert Ball Companies team. He is a principal with Pearl Property Management and manages all tenant and client services. Kevin took over the operation of Robert Ball’s Portland property management company in 1995 and was responsible for management of all company properties. He has also been an integral part of the Robert Ball Companies development team as a key operations manager, financial analyst and controller. Kevin has an in-depth knowledge of homeowner associations and a working relationship with Portland’s most established association management companies. As a member of the Pearl Property Mangement team, Kevin has an extensive knowledge of the unique rental market in the Pearl and downtown neighborhoods providing a proximity to clients and tenants that other management companies cannot offer. In his spare time, Kevin enjoys attending concerts, collecting music, running, and is an avid pro tennis and college basketball fan.

Grant Jones

Licensed Real Estate Agent

 

Grant Jones began his real estate career as a sales assistant at The Wyatt, a 245 unit condominium development of the Robert Ball Companies team. Grant obtained his license to sell real estate in Oregon and joined Pearl Property Management. Grant helped grow the company to a highly successful, full service property management company for owners of condominium units. During the Great Recession, Grant helped position the company to help struggling owners rent their properties, allowing those owners greater financial freedom. Grant has exceptional knowledge of sales and rental inventory in the downtown core markets and continues to make Pearl Property management a market success. He currently serves on the advisory Board of the Rosemary Anderson School for expelled and at-risk students. He also enjoys architecture, golfing, and has a passion for automobiles.

Maxwell DeYoung

Executive Assistant & Creative Associate

Maxwell currently serves as the Executive Assistant to the CEO and is the Creative Associate for Robert Ball companies. He is a native Oregonian and grew up in the Portland area. He attended Portland State University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science from the School of Business in 2018. He has a multifaceted background including merchandising for high end retailers including Nordstrom and Banana Republic. In the retail business he gained managerial experience which gave him a valuable understanding of customer service, business operations, problem solving, and learning to serve a diverse clientele. In addition to this experience, Maxwell has worked as an independent consultant on interior design projects that included furnishing and accessorizing residential living spaces. He also independently contracted to provide photography and editing services in the real estate field. He is proficient in a number of computer software programs including Adobe illustrator and other creative design tools. This additional experience introduced him to real estate development and management; allowing him to serve in his current role of Creative Associate of Robert Ball Companies in addition to his role of Executive Assistant to the CEO. In his free time, Maxwell enjoys cooking, music, and staying connected to current architecture and interior design platforms. He has a passion for creative design and all things artistic.

Andrew Shute

Operations Assistant

 

Andrew, a born-and-raised Portland native, began his real estate career in New York City at the impressive age of 18 – right after graduating from Oregon Episcopal School. Eager to dive into the business, Andrew secured a job at one of New York’s preeminent real estate start-ups, XL Real Property Management, a company specializing in the management of ultra-luxury units on behalf of foreign investors. There Andrew worked in operations and marketing, helping to grow the company and its client base while managing teams of employees and vendors and supervising over $300,000 of renovation projects on behalf of owners. While in New York Andrew was also responsible for running the regional operations and programming for Essay Busters, a non-profit providing mentorship and college-application support to students in underserved communities. With a deep desire to delve into real estate development and financing, Andrew relocated back to Portland and begin working for Robert Ball Companies as Operations Assistant to the CEO. In his spare time, Andrew enjoys hiking, whitewater rafting, and currently is an apiarist (beekeeper) with a goal of developing a local honey. He is currently pursuing a degree in Economics.
